PARTNER & PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION

Anne Carey prides herself on supporting story tellers in telling incredibly personally authored stories across a variety of genres and budget ranges. She has a long history of development-oriented producing, working frequently from literary material and collaborating with award-winning filmmakers.

 

Anne’s latest producing work includes DEAD RINGERS, the drama series for Amazon, written by Alice Birch, starring Rachel Weisz and THE PERSIAN VERSION written and directed by Maryam Keshavarz, which was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival where the film won the Audience Award for U.S. Dramatic Competition and The Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, as well as Marielle Heller’s latest film NIGHT BITCH, starring Adam Adams for Searchlight and Annapurna.

 

Anne's previous films include LOST GIRLS directed by Liz Garbus and written by Michael Werwie, starring Amy Ryan; CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?, directed by Marielle Heller, written by Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty and starring Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant with BAFTA nominations and Academy Award nominations across the board; Academy Award-nominated 20th CENTURY WOMEN  written and directed by Mike Mills, starring Annette Bening; Marielle Heller's Independent Spirit Award winner THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL, starring Kristen Wiig and Alexander Skarsgard; and MR HOLMES, directed by Bill Condon, starring Ian McKellen and Laura Linney. 

 

Prior to Archer Gray, Anne co-founded and was partner at the independent production company This is That, which produced many critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films including Tamara Jenkins's Academy Award nominated THE SAVAGES, Greg Mottola’s ADVENTURELAND, Anton Corbijn’s THE AMERICAN, Nicole Holofcener’s FRIENDS WITH MONEY and Tod Williams's THE DOOR IN THE FLOOR.

 

Anne’s films have been distributed through Netflix, A24, Fox Searchlight, Universal, Sony Picture Classics, Warner Independent, Focus Features, Miramax and HBO. Her films have played and premiered at all major domestic and international film festivals. In addition to producing, Anne has served as an adjunct professor at both Columbia University’s Graduate Film School and NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an advisor/consultant to the Canadian Film Center. She is a frequent mentor to the Sundance Institute. She is an active lecturer. Anne is a member of THE PGA and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
